Chris's Reclining Pose has been chosen for exhibition by Neonchocolate Gallery in Berlin:

In its almost two years of existence, Neonchocolate Gallery introduced Berlin in quick succession to exiting works by young national and international artists.

Now the gallery is truly turning up the heat with the exhibition .COMPRESSED – a collection of one hundred handpicked works of urban art, painting, photography, illustration, collage, and design – which will be on view at Berlin’s .HBC March 5–8, 2012 and culminate in a live auction. The exhibition is curated by Oliver Thoben and Uwe Neu in cooperation with Kat Wilhelm, formerly of Christie’s London. Fares Al Hasan (www.fly-auctions.com), a licensed art auctioneer and collector who has conducted over forty successful auctions to date, will lead the final evening.

The auction and preceding exhibition .COMPRESSED will be held at.HBC Berlin, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9.

Composer and performer Ray Evanoff, newly resident in New Orleans, will be joining Coup d'Oeil Art Consortium Thursday, Nov. 3, 6:30pm to talk about his music and artistic practice, and their parallels to the art of Blaine Capone, whose show "The Whelming" is currently on display at the gallery. In their own way, both artists' work addresses issues of negativity, discomfort, and indirect thinking, and both of their practices revolve around a personally-established set of themes, materials, and subject matter which are investigated across the whole of their output. Please join us for an evening exploring the possibilities inherent in artistic practice, the commonalities between various mediums, and the positive side of negativity. The artist's talk will be followed by a question and answer session.

Coup Welcomes Blaine Capone

Coup is glad to welcome Blaine Capone back to New Orleans. His upcoming exhibits The Whelming, Part I and Part II, concurrent with Prospect .2, will showcase works created during his almost three years of toil while homesteading in Southern Appalachia, North Carolina. He has accepted Coup's resident studio where he will be working on a new body of large-scale paintings for promotion to national and international galleries.

Coup has been prepping for and installing work for Blake Boyd's The Batman Years opening Saturday evening at 6pm. The exhibit, part of Blake's "Prospect.1.75"* project is presented by his friend Jennifer Coolidge and curated by Holly Woodlawn, actor, performance artist, author and cultural critic ("When I'm wearing pants, call me a he; when I'm wearing a dress call me a Limo...").

*The exhibit is not affiliated with Prospect New Orleans Biennial. It is unique in that it is Slidell's oldest Biennale.

While enjoying the pleasant New Orleans spring weather for the opening reception of Mason Saltarrelli's show Stay Crazy, viewers delighted in the light-hearted challenge which Mason's imagery offers. Friends, family, and seasoned and newbie visual art collectors gathered to celebrate Mason's creativity. The show is up through June 11 with gallery hours of 12-6:30pm wed-sat and 1-6pm sun-mon.

Today marked the last day of the shows Intimate Topographies, Paulina Sierra's beautiful lace sculptures and Slowness, Emily Farranto's beautiful oil paintings. Viewers were consistently positive in their responses to the work which offered an enjoyable opportunity for those of us who were at the gallery showing it off. We're now gearing up for Petrichor, Erica Lambertson Philippe's large collection of oil paintings which opens on April 9. Usual gallery hours won't apply until that opening, but we'll be in and out. I've just returned from NYC during Armory week, checking out all the art fairs, scouting for appropriate avenues to expose work. Valuable networking made it quite a productive trip. Also visited the New Museum to view Mental States, the exhibit of many of George Condo's enormous body of work. Particularly enjoyed his whimsical portraits evoking complex mental states. Condo aficionados: Blaine Capone's fantastical figurative works are a fresh banquet of pleasure.

Reception the same night as Krewe du Vieux parade. Turned out that alot of art aficionados decided to soak up the culture further upriver. The crowd was comfortable and engaged. No one could help connecting with the authenticity of Paulina's and Emily's profound artistic sensibilities.

Have kept the exhibit under wraps till then in order to surprise Paulina's family who has arrived from Mexico. Paulina has dedicated her exhibit to Mema, her maternal grandmother. An extraordinarily beautiful show.
